We have received several reports of members getting "phishing" emails with links to "update your account". They may appear to come from DirectLink or Canby.com but the "From" address appears as "godisall@homesc.com" or something other than @directlink.coop. Please ignore these requests and contact Technical Support to report any more information or for any questions.
It may look something like this:
"Phishing" refers to emails that are fishing for sensitive information by phone or email, often illegitimately posing as a recognizable person or organization and requesting you click on a link or download an attachment. DirectLink will not contact you by email requesting sensitive information and will always request you call in and verify your account information. Some additional common red flags that often expose messages like this as scams include:
- The sender wants you to click on a link or button to update your personal or payment information. Never click on links in messages from people or organizations you don't know or weren't expecting to receive.
- Grammar, spelling, or general syntax is often incorrect or hastily put together.
- The scamming sender's email address is often odd or vague
- The sender tries to convey a sense of urgency to get you to take an action, like click on a button
