Are you experiencing unwanted phone calls? You’re not alone. Fortunately, there are ways to cut down on these calls with these four tips.

  1. Scam callers are skilled at using robocallers to do the work for them. If you receive a lot of spam or robocalls, hang up—or better yet, stop answering unknown numbers altogether. Even if you get frequent voicemails from spam numbers, delete the messages, report the numbers as spam, and block them.
  2. Register your phone for free with the National Do Not Call Registry. This won’t stop all unwanted calls, but it can reduce the number of organizations and groups that are legally allowed to contact you.
  3. Have you checked your phone provider for built-in call protection features? Many service providers include tools to block robocallers. For example, DirectLink’s Voice service includes a Robocall Blocking system designed to stop most unwanted calls before they reach you.
  4. If your phone provider doesn’t offer built-in security features—or if they aren’t effective enough—try using free apps that block unwanted calls. Be sure to do your research by checking reviews and comparing options to find the most effective one.
