The Maureen Ernst Memorial Scholarship
The Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce has established The Maureen Ernst Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in her honor upon her untimely passing in 2018 and has been developed through community fund raising efforts and proceeds from the Mt. Angel Hazelnutfest and Christmas Market. Maureen was a tireless supporter of the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered her time for a wide variety of community activities. The scholarship was established to recognize a Kennedy High School senior who exemplifies Maureen's spirit through donating their time in assisting with community service and school activities.
The award for 2024 will be a $2,000.00 unrestricted scholarship to be used towards expenses incurred for study at any college, university, trade, technical or vocational school.
Application Packets Should Include:
- The student's name, address, e-mail address and telephone number.
- A written narrative that describes your involvement in community and school activities as a volunteer.
Please describe the activities, what involvement you had and how you believe the community or school benefitted from your participation. - Please write a description of your future plans including where you plan to further your education and what your long term personal and professional goals may be.
- Describe why you believe community service is important to you as an individual and to the community.
Describe what your future plans for community service are. - Provide a list of a minimum of three references who are familiar with your community and school activities and service. Include their mailing address, phone number, and email address.
The scholarship committee will consist of representatives of the Mt. Angel Chamber of Commerce and members of Maureen's family. Some applicants may be invited to an interview with the committee before a final selection is made.
